"Enemy Coast Ahead" is a book written by Wing Commander Guy Gibson V.C.. One of the most recognized and popular books ever to come out of World War II, it is the story of Gibson's wartime career in the Royal Air Force, which ends in his leading the famous bombing raid on the dams of the Ruhr Valley (Operation Chastise). Written by Gibson in 1944, it was published in 1946 after his death in action. Previously published in a version subjected to wartime censorship, an uncensored version was released in 2003. [1]

A 1954 film, "The Dam Busters", was made based on both "Enemy Coast Ahead" and on Paul Brickhill's "The Dam Busters". The movie starred Richard Todd as Gibson and Michael Redgrave as Wallis.
