Melbourne Express

Melbourne Express

Melbourne Express was a free newspaper distributed on weekday mornings at suburban railway stations in Melbourne, Australia.

Melbourne Express was launched on 5 February 2001,[1] one day before mX, another free newspaper also aimed at commuters, but distributed in the evenings. mX was, and still is, published by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. Melbourne Express was published by News Corporation's main competitor, Fairfax Media, publishers of Melbourne's broadsheet newspaper, The Age.

Melbourne Express ceased publication on the 7 September 2001.[2] The final edition featured a single frontpage headline stating "So long, and thanks for all the fish" with short explanation explaining the reason for the decision.
