Kirk Demorest

Kirk Demorest is an award-winning filmmaker, writer, entrepreneur,editor and post production consultant. He is the co-founder of ArthouseFilms, Los Angeles, now known as the Arthouse Company, LLC. His film andediting work has been widely distributed internationally on televisionand DVD.

Biography

After studying cinema at University of California, Santa Barbara, he transferred to ArtCenter College of Design, Pasadena where he studied film alongside thelikes of Tarsem Singh (The Cell), Michael Bay (Transformers (film)), and RogerAvary (Pulp Fiction). Since college, he has been involved with filmand tv production and post production from everything from directing atelevision spot for Gig Magazine (that aired on MTV) to editing a seriesfor Home & Garden Television.

Editing

At Walt Disney Television Animation

Demorest was the editor for Walt Disney Television Animation's “Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas” where he worked for months alongside world-renowned animator
Andreas Deja in crafting the first Computer-generated imagery animation versions of the classicDisney characters: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy.Demorest was a contributing editor for the animated film “Brother Bear 2” starring Mandy Moore and Patrick Dempsey.

At Universal Animation Studios

Demorest edited the Universal Animation Studios' Emmy Award-nominated children'sseries for PBSCurious George (TV series)” starring William H. Macy. He also wasthe editor for the DVD release of “The Adventures of Brer Rabbit,”starring Danny Glover, Nick Cannon, Wanda Sykes, and D. L. Hughley.

ince My Last Dance

Demorest won a tie award for his short film, Since My Last Dance, in 2003 with legendary director John Woo for "Best Internet Video Premiere" [http://home.earthlink.net/~no1nose/DVD_Awards/DVD.htm] , beating out director Tony Scott.

Two Minute Holiday

Demorest wrote and directed this film which was an official selection in actor Kevin Spacey's Trigger Street Film Festival [http://www.twominuteholiday.com] , and is included on the DVD release for the feature film "Kwik Stop". The film has been seen by tens of thousands of viewers.

Living With It

Demorest directed radio talk jock Heidi Hamilton (the radio show Frosty, Heidi, & Frank) in this ultra short film about racism [http://arthousefilms.net/LWI-info.htm] , which is now in distribution via cell phone. This film has also been seen by tens of thousands of viewers.

Married To Trouble

This was Demorest's first foray into the black comedy genre. He acquired rights to the song "Happy Go Lucky Me" written by 1950's rock & roll star Paul Evans, writer of "The Midnight Special." [http://arthousefilms.net/MarriedToTrouble.htm]
