Jarnac is a commune in the French "département" of Charente. It was the site of the myth of the legendary strike , in a judicial duel, "Le Coup de Jarnac", on the July 10, 1547, beetween Guy I Chabot de Jarnac and Francois de Vivonne de la Châtaigneraie, and the Battle of Jarnac in 1569.

Geography

Jarnac is situated on the right bank of the river Charente between the towns of Angoulême and Cognac.
