Sunniside, Sunderland

Sunniside, Sunderland

Sunniside is a suburb of Sunderland in Tyne and Wear, England.

It borders the city centre and is now most a business area, although a massive redevelopment programme is designed to bring residents back to the area, both by converting commercial buildings, such as the old Post Office building, into apartments, and by turning the houses of Foyle Street and Frederick Street from offices back to homes. The programne also calls for the bringing the upper floors of shops back into use. Empty storerooms for example can be converted to flats.
