Sir John Leslie, 4th Baronet

Sir John Leslie, 4th Baronet

Captain Sir John Norman Ide "Jack" Leslie, 4th Bt. was born on 6 December 1916. He is the eldest son of the late Sir John Randolph Shane Leslie, 3rd Bt. and Marjorie Ide. He became the fourth baronet when his father died in 1971.

Educated at Downside School and Magdalene College, Cambridge, he has never married or had children. During World War II Leslie spent 5 years in POW camps. After the war he moved to New York and later travelled around Europe eventually settling in Rome. At the age of 78 he returned to Castle Leslie where he took up nightclubbing, and travelled to Ibiza for his 85th birthday in 2001. He inadvertently revealed the wedding location of Paul McCartney and Heather Mills by admitting to reporters it was to take place in Castle Leslie, but that it was "a secret".

Family

Sir John has outlived his older sister, the author Anita Leslie (Anita Theodosia Moira Rodzianko King), and younger brother, Desmond Arthur Peter Leslie. The line of succession for the Baronetcy is (1) nephew Shaun and (2) nephew Mark.
