A great educational and social reformer, Sir Syed emerged on the scene in the Sub-Continent towards the middle of the 19th century. At a critical juncture of history, he came up with more education as the centerpiece of a framework of hope and action for the Muslims of the area. A monument to Sir Syed’s approach making mission was the well-known Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College at Aligarh (AMUOBA) that later become the Muslim University there.
