2005 Khanaqin bombings were suicide attacks on two Shia mosques in Khanaqin, Iraq (near the Iranian border), on November 18, 2005.

The bombings killed at least 74 and injured more than 100 innocent civilians. The bombers blew themselves up while hundreds of worshippers were attending Friday prayers, in what was being seen as an act of sectarian provocation. The town lies within a Kurdish-controlled area that has until then escaped much of the violence that has afflicted other parts of Iraq.
