The International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA) is a federation of more than 60 netball associations from around the world, and is responsible for coordinating international netball events and procedures.

The IFNA organizes the Netball World Championships and regulates international matches and series. They also adjudicate questions of discipline, rules, and umpiring. They compile the world rankings of international netball teams following each World Championship.

History

The International Federation of Women's Basketball and Netball (later IFNA) was established in 1960 by representatives from England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and the West Indies meeting in Sri Lanka, after discussions to standardise the rules of netball. It was at this inaugural meeting to hold World Championship tournaments every four years, beginning in Eastbourne, England, in 1963.

Regional Federations

Being the international governing body for all international netball teams, National membership to IFNA is split up into five regional federations. These are:
*Oceania Netball Federation
*Confederation of African Netball Associations
*Federation of European Netball Associations
*Asian Federation of Netball Associations
*Americas Federation of Netball Associations

Countries without full membership are associate members.

Achievements

In 1996, after successful lobbying, the IFNA succeeded in having netball became a recognized Olympic sport and in turn included at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. It is currently lobbying to have netball introduced to the Olympic Games.
