The Biography Channel (bio.) is a English speaking general entertainment channel available on Sky Digital, Tiscali TV and Virgin Media.The channel was launched in October 2000 by a joint-venture between A&E Television Networks and British Sky Broadcasting that had previously launched The History Channel UK. This version of the channel is also available in the Republic of Ireland, the Netherlands and Belgium.
A high definition version is expected to launch on Sky+ HD before the end of 2008.
