Biography

Career

Royal writes, arranges and produces his music. A childhood musical prodigy who began playing piano at the age of four, Wood released his first recording, "The Milkweed EP", in 2002. He followed up with his full-length debut, "Tall Tales", in 2004 on Maple Music. His second album, "A Good Enough Day", was released in 2007 on Dead Daisy Records, and has garnered rave reviews and found national airplay on CBC Radio and College Radio. Wood's music has also been featured on several TV and movie soundtracks, including TMN/Movie Central's "Regenesis", the CBC series "This is Wonderland", the CTV movie "Playing House", the film "The End of Silence", and the Food Network’s "The Surreal Gourmet". "A Good Enough Day" was also released in Feb 2008 on Rounder Europe and found critical praise and national airplay in Ireland, Holland and Italy.

tyle

His first full length album "Tall Tales" was something he considered “over the top pop”. However his second release "A Good Enough Day" is melancholic pop-folk with elegant melodies, accentuated use of strings and guitars, and a sparse use of other instrumentation.
