Lake Travis High School is a high school located in Austin, Texas (USA) that serves grades 9 through 12 as part of the Lake Travis Independent School District. It was established in 1981 after separating from the Dripping Springs Independent School District. It has two distinguished programs: the highly acclaimed, award-winning Cavalier Band, which has won numerous awards and continues to have success. And the Football team, 4A Division II State Champions.

The orchestra, choir, art, speech/debate, and theater arts programs have also won University Interscholastic League licensed events, though with some irregularity. It is the only high school in the state of Texas that claims the Cavalier as its mascot.

With many new renovations taking place, the school is growing quickly.

Extracurricular activities

Football

The Lake Travis Football program is highly respected for being one of the few programs in Texas to win four straight district titles, and is a state playoff regular. Before 2007, though, Lake Travis had never made it passed the second round (Area Championship) of the state football playoffs. In the 2007 season, Lake Travis had its most successful season ever, winning the District Championship again before the playoffs, as well as winning the Bi-District Championship, Area Championship, Regional Championship, State Quarter-Finals, and State Semi-Finals in the Texas Class 4A, Division II Playoffs in five games. On December 22, Lake Travis defeated Highland Park High School in Dallas with a final score of 36-34 to become the 2007 Texas Class 4A Div. II State Champions. The game was held at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco, home of the Baylor Bears. This was not only Lake Travis High School's first State Title in football, but it was the first time they had ever played in the State Championship Game. The Cavaliers ended the season with a final record of 15 wins and 1 loss.

Lake Travis' football coach Jeff Dicus left after the 2007 season to take over at Duncanville High School. His successor is Chad Morris, who had gone 135-25 in his previous 14 years as a head coach, winning a Class 4A, Division I championship at Bay City High School in 2000.
