"Bondi Tsunami" is a 2004 feature length road movie about the Japanese surfing subculture in Australia. The film is inspired by young Japanese tourists that come to Australia on working holiday visas, in search of sun and surf. The tagline for the movie is: "The first Japanese surfing road movie in Australia." The film is directed by Rachael Lucas. Some critics have questioned the films lack of content and plot. The Japanese Actors Guild has also boycotted the film, due to its offensive portrayal of Japanese women.

Rachael Lucas is a young Australian director who claims be at the forefront of the digital guerilla filmmaking revolution. She is known for her unique visual style and has a background in documentary and music video. "Bondi Tsunami" is Rachael's first feature as writer/director. Plot

The plot of "Bondi Tsunami" is quite a simple one. Shark and Yuto are on a road trip around Australia, surfing, smoking and drinking.
