Dan I was a voivode (prince, ruler) of the principality of Wallachia (reigned c. 1383 – 1386). During the war with Bulgaria (1384–1386) he perished in battle against the troops of Tsar Ivan Shishman. His descendants were members of the House of Dăneşti, one of the two factions descended from Basarab I, that were claimants to the voivodeship of the Principality of Wallachia in subsequent centuries. The other rival faction was the House of Drăculeşti.
