Gaerwen

Gaerwen

Gaerwen is a village on the island of Anglesey, north Wales. It is located in the south of the island 4 miles west of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll and just a few hundred metres south of the A55.

It is very much a village of the old and new with two disused windmills in the north of the village and a modern industrial estate making up the south west portion of the village. Facilities include public houses, a Post Office and a primary school. There used to be a Little Chef just outside the village but that was closed some years ago.

The village is probably most famous however for housing the southernmost station of the Anglesey Central Railway which was in use between 1864 and 1993. It was also used on the Bangor to Holyhead mainline until 1963.Star is a tiny settlement consisting of several houses on the outskirts of the village.
