Salih Mirzabeyoglu

Salih Mirzabeyoglu was born in Eskişehir in 1950, but is originally from Bitlis. His family descends from the Islamic prophet Muhammad and were given special status by the Kurdish tribes as leaders of these tribes. His great-grandfather Musa, his great-grandfather’s brother Nuh and his grandfather Izzet Bey were among the first opponents of Mustafa Kemal. Izzet Bey killed 125 soldiers of Mustafa Kemal in the mountains of Kosor in Kurdistan, and during this struggle was killed. The most famous figure of Kurdish Literature, "Cigerxun", even wrote about the heroic life of Salih Mirzabeyoglu’s grandmother, Gulnaz Hanım.

Biography

Salih Mirzabeyoglu first met Necip Fazıl in Eskisehir when he was 15 years old. He studied Law in the University of Istanbul, and in 1975 began to publish his works. In some of the periodicals he published between 1979 and 1980 he wrote his political-ideological perspectives. After the death of Necip Fazıl, he founded IBDA-C in 1984 and until now, has written about 50 books.

IBDA is a school of thought and action which is also based on “Tasawwuf”. It is based on the wisdom of a Sufi school ("tariqat") of Naqshbandiyyah.

Salih Mirzabeyoglu was also the opinion leader of the very well-known “Raiders (Akincilar) Movement” which got involved in a nationwide resistance which had an Islamic character and was against the regime in Turkey from 1975 until the military coup of 1980. Mirzabeyoglu became extremely popular after he started publishing the monthly revolutionary periodical “Golge (Shadow)” in 1975 and the concept “Raider (Akinci)” was mentioned as the common name for members of the Islamic resistance for the first time by Mirzabeyoglu in this publication. Mirzabeyoglu's works, and the fact that a number of his comrades were martyred during their struggle, inspired an unprecedented “revolutionary Islam” all over Turkey, with almost all members of the Islamic resistance appearing after that time calling themselves “Raiders (Akincilar).”

As of 1986, many legal and illegal fronts emerged around the IBDA ideology. Nowadays, according to the police records, there are more than 100 fronts of IBDA which have organized many actions independently from one another and from Mirzabeyoglu. The organization model of IBDA-Fronts has no relation with the other nationalist or socialist organization models. According to the police reports, there are a number of armed groups and about 3,000 militants in Turkey, both in Turkish and in the Kurdish territories. The revolutionary concept of IBDA-Fronts depends on Popular Revolts strategy.

The system is apparently the key word for the proposal that only IBDA provides in the Islamic world. IBDA does not deal with only action but it also provides its alternative system to replace the which is to be eliminated. What IBDA implicitly proposes to the world is an unprecedented solution, as we mentioned before. Its comprehensive proposal contains all the main ideas and procedures of administrative, Judicial, economic, cultural, educational and other subsystems in accordance with the supersystem which is available. Contrary to other types of wishful thinking, this magnificent system proposal is on hand in Mirzabeyoglu’s complete works. That is why he was assaulted brutally and was wanted dead several times by using sophisticated means: “electromagnetic weapons, radiation emitters, directed-sound headphones and hallucinogenic agents put in meals,” actions which are still being carried out. That is why, where Salih Mirzabeyoglu is concerned, Western imperialism and Turkish militarism always had assassination plots on process and in store. He was arrested in 1998 and has been in prison since then, having been accused of destroying and replacing the secular regime with an Islamic one.

Salih Mirzabeyoglu is currently in a high security prison of Bolu.

His works are on themes of Islamic wisdom, Western philosophy, Linguistics, politics, economics, law, fine arts, literature, history, quantum physics, mathematics, and so on. He defines himself as a “water bird” which flies between Western Thought and Islamic Wisdom. When he speaks of his relationship with Necip Fazıl, he says that it is like that of Plato and Socrates.

His main target is to found the State of “Head Sublime”. The main goal of IBDA is to establish an Islamic state in the world starting with Turkey’s territories, and then by targeting the unity of all other Islamic states, hopefully joining them in a confederation-like system. It seems possible to name it as the European Union model of the Islamic world, for instance; more independent in borders, more dependent out of borders in Union. What it proposes is a distinguished type of regime which is exclusive to IBDA: Aristocracy of Literati, in other words, Aristocracy of Intellectuals, who are the most prominent figures of their time. Only the best of society deserve to rule a country, IBDA says. Not like an autocracy, in which all the power is in one person’s hands; not like democracy, where a scholar’s vote is equivalent to that of an ordinary man. He depicts his proposal in his masterpiece, “Basyucelik Devleti – The State of Head Supreme” (Grandsublime, also possible), as below:

“Basyucelik [Grandsublime] State: This will be the form and name of the state. The subtle premise behind it is: Considering the Islamic states retrospectively, we see that there is no name foregrounding the ethnicity due to the stress on the concept of community [ummah] ; i.e. the Ummayad dynasty, Abbasids, Eyyubis, Seljuks, Ottomans and the like. As can be seen in the examples, the state is named after the person who represents the social will and the executive authority in power; which demonstrates the fact that the name of the state does not belong to the given mortal person’s authority but to the social will and executive authority per se and that the name solely serves for referential purposes… And it continues within a genealogical line and the whole the process continues within these indicators. Compared to the state model excluding monarchy as depicted by the Great Orient ideology , the name of the grand social will and executive authority will be represented by the borrowed name Basyucelik [Grandsublime] which is in fact a position to which only the most worthy or capable ones can be assigned to.”

“The “Basyucelik” model of state, which will divert the Western dominance and offer Islam and refer to our “New World Order” actually exists in Great Orient system as a coherent ideological corpus of writing.. The core of this model aspires to rearrange the world just like a seed clenching its roots in the soil later to become sprouts to gush out of the earth and to cover the whole sky with its branches. Our “constitution”—formulated in respect to each and every geographical and ethnic region and collecting together all those diversities in the form of slight details of second, third or fifth degree not damaging the ultimate “core” –awaits to be embroidered into practice in a chain reaction…”

“The issue that the world of Islam should gradually adopt and make others adopt and argue for is to refuse United States organization and additionally –for us particularly--to strongly object to the attempts to access European Union... In order for the attitude not to be regarded as pathetic or naïve— to a “do it!” command to simply respond: “I won’t!”—the only thesis can be with respect to our “Basyucelik State”; in other words, embracing the authority of the Great Orient concept and make it dominant!..”

“There is no administrative form but administrative spirit in Islam”… Besides, it should be once again strongly indicated that in the world of Islam today, there is no other model than our “Basyucelik State” framed as an ideological corpus ...And that as a merit system in Islam “the position is given to the competent, skilled and the qualified” not only in the state administration but also in all areas… And that the parliament is at the service of people, the government at the service of the parliament, and the execution at the service of the government… Taking all these overlapping points into consideration, it is impossible for our model’s “Sublime Assembly”—gathered by the will of people—to get involved into any act of deception, populism or any similarly vicious aspect of familiar election systems which are based on exploiting people’s meandering tendencies and bodily appetites. In any field of work or action, the people who become distinguished—already differentiated by their high qualities—are in the position of representing the will of the ones who regard their field of work or action as a living style… Compare the generation of such roots producing a will of nation who regards the world as a garden-bed of after-life and who is concerned about God’s consent to the current assembly representing the unqualified human generation and human junkyard!..”
