Lagan Valley is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The seat was first used for a Northern Ireland-only election for the Northern Ireland Forum in 1996. Since 1998, it has elected members to the current Assembly.

For Assembly elections prior to 1996, the constituency was largely part of the South Antrim and North Down constituencies. Since 1997, it has shared boundaries with the Lagan Valley UK Parliament constituency.

Changes 2003 - 2007

*Jeffrey Donaldson and Norah Beare resigned from the Ulster Unionist Party on December 18 2003 and joined the Democratic Unionist Party on January 5 2004.
* Marietta Farrell replaced Patricia Lewsley after Lewsley's resignation to take up a commissioner post

Changes 1998-2003

*Patrick Roche resigned from the UK Unionist Party and, together with other UKUP Assembly Members, formed the Northern Ireland Unionist Party on January 5, 1999.
*Ivan Davis failed to be selected by the UUP to fight the 2003 election and so stood as an independent unionist.

In the 1996 election to the Northern Ireland Peace Forum, 5 Forum members were elected from Lagan Valley. They were as follows:

*David Campbell — Ulster Unionist Party
*Ivan Davis — Ulster Unionist Party
