David Hayes (horse trainer)

David Hayes (born October 22, 1962) is a prominent Australian Thoroughbred racehorse trainer and son of legendary trainer Colin Hayes. Hayes has trained 35 group one winners. Hayes has trained Melbourne Cup, Cox Plate, Caulfield Cup and Golden Slipper winners.

In July 2007, Hayes gained considerable attention in the United States when he went there to compete for the first time in the American Oaks at Hollywood Park Racetrack in Inglewood, California in an attempt to have his filly Anamato become the first Australian-bred and trained horse to win a major North American race since Phar Lap captured the 1932 Agua Caliente Handicap.
