LocusSupplementaryData =Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 9 (CCL9) is a small
cytokine belonging to the CCchemokine family, also called "macrophage inflammatory protein-1 gamma" (MIP-1γ), "macrophage inflammatory protein-related protein-2" (MRP-2) and CCF18 , that has been described in rodents. CCL9 has also been previously designated CCL10, although this name is no longer in use. It is secreted by follicle-associatedepithelium (FAE) such as that found aroundPeyer's patch es, and attractsdendritic cell s that possess the cell surface molecule CD11b and thechemokine receptor CCR1. [cite journal |author=Zhao X, Sato A, Dela Cruz C, Linehan M, Luegering A, Kucharzik T, Shirakawa A, Marquez G, Farber J, Williams I, Iwasaki A |title=CCL9 is secreted by the follicle-associated epithelium and recruits dome region Peyer's patch CD11b+ dendritic cells |journal=J Immunol |volume=171 |issue=6 |pages=2797–803 |year=2003 |pmid=12960300] CCL9 can activateosteoclast s through its receptor CCR1 (the most abundant chemokine receptor found on osteoclasts) suggesting an important role for CCL9 inbone resorption . [cite journal |author=Lean J, Murphy C, Fuller K, Chambers T |title=CCL9/MIP-1gamma and its receptor CCR1 are the major chemokine ligand/receptor species expressed by osteoclasts |journal=J Cell Biochem |volume=87 |issue=4 |pages=386–93 |year=2002 |pmid=12397598 |doi=10.1002/jcb.10319] CCL9 is constitutively expressed inmacrophage s andmyeloid cells.
