"Reporting Scotland" is BBC Scotland's national television news programme. The programme first went on air in 1968, with three main presenters, the most famous being Mary Marquis. It is the main national news programme in Scotland, with STV and ITV Border providing regional, more localised bulletins for their coverage areas.

The viewing figures for the main evening programme average between 500,000 and 600,000. The main transmitters for the programme are those at Durris near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire and Black Hill in North Lanarkshire.

BBC Scotland moved to their new studios (Pacific Quay Studios) in the summer of 2007, with "Reporting Scotland" first broadcasting from the new building on Monday 20 August. The studio backdrop features BBC Scotland's new headquarters on the banks of the Clyde.

The new building at Pacific Quay is one of the most modern, state of the art, digital broadcasting facilities in the world, complete with the BBC's first HD-capable newsroom.

On 19th September 2008, BBC Scotland announced that the programme would be presented by a single anchor from Monday 29th September, bringing the "programme in line with the main BBC news bulletins at 6pm and 10pm and will reduce the number of presenters on the Reporting Scotland roster." David Robertson announced on the evening bulletin on the same day that he was leaving the BBC after 20 years, eight of them spent on Reporting Scotland.

Broadcasting

The programme airs several times through the day on BBC One Scotland, currently at the following usual times:-
*Monday to Friday
**during "BBC Breakfast" (which runs from 06:00-09:15)
**13:30-13:45, after the "BBC News at One"
**18:30-19:00, after the "BBC News at Six"
**19:58-19:59, after the "BBC News (8pm summary)"
**22:25-22:35, after the "BBC News at Ten"
*Saturday, after the circa 17:30 UK news; this edition is the one most likely to change its time to precede or follow live broadcasts of sports events
*Sunday, after the 17:35 UK news

Along with other BBC Scotland news and current affairs programming, it can be viewed as a live or on-demand (in full or as individual articles) video stream from the BBC Scotland Player over the Internet.

The programme can also be watched in any part of the UK (and much of Europe) via the BBC UK regional TV on satellite service transmitted from the SES Astra satellite position at 28.2 degrees East:-
* on channel 101 using Sky-branded proprietary satellite receivers with a Conditional access card associated with an address in Scotland
* on channel 971 using a Sky-branded receiver with a card associated with a non-Scottish address or with no viewing card
* on 10803 MHz, 22000Ksps, Horizontal polarisation, FEC 5/6 using a normal satellite receiver
