Uttiramerur is a small town situated near Chennai formerly known as Madras, India. uttiramerur once known as chaturvedhi mangalam (meaning a town with people knowledgeable of all 4 vedas viz rig, yajur, sama and atharvana) followed highly organised democratic system. The democracy was followed in various fields like treasury, educational committee, water tank maintenance committee and infrastructure maintenance committee.

The election for those committees were conducted in a highly professional way where each contestants needs to get through strict eligibility criteria. The contestants need to be well educated. They should never be convicted. The candidates should be between the age-limit of 35 and 70. one can contest only three times in their life time for a post and the elected candidate can contest only after two tenures by some one else. The roads in uttiramerur are very well planned and one can see a very advanced drainage system where all the rain water is collected in various tanks around the town.

48 feet wide roads can be seen and its construction can clearly explain the success of a well planned democracy. All these information are available as archeological carvings in vaikuntha-vasar temple, uttiramerur.

sundharavaradhan temple is one of the very famous temples in the town. Its architectural design is highly advanced. The temple is a three storey building. It is constructed in such a way that devotees can’t walk on top of gods.

The ground floor has all gods standing and they are called varadhans (boon givers). The ground floor signifies to the relationship between earthly devotees and god where devotees expect boon from god and he is there to give them. The gods present in the ground floor are "Sundharavaradhan",Kalyanavaradhan, Achutavaradhan and Anurudhravaradhan.

The first floor has all the gods sitting. The significance of the gods in the first floor is that they all provide knowledge about truth to their devotees (the people who put the effort to worship gods in the first floor are qualified to gain the knowledge because of their eagerness). The gods present in first floor are Bhagvath-Gita Krishnan with arjun, Bhuvaragan (savior of earth) with lakshmi, Yoga Narasimmar (lion god) and vaikunthavaradhan.

Atlast the second floor has Anathapadmanaban(very similar to paranthaman in parkatal) the significance being the knowledge and little more effort can drive us to mukthi(salvation).

It is located 35km from kanchipuram so there is an underground tunnel which is supposed to connect to kanchipuram from the temple.It is famous for its temples built 1000 years ago by Chola kings & Pallavas.
