Paschim Vihar is a major residential colony in Delhi and falls under Punjabi Bagh subzone of West Delhi. Located in the western part of Delhi, Paschim Vihar comprises various housing and business complexes. Some key ones include Ekta Apartments, Priyadarshni Apartments, Nivedita Enclave CA, Triveni, Ritu, Anand Van Colony, Saakshara, Maitri, Balvinder, Shubh Niketan, Nav Bharat,Madhur Apartments, Lake View complexes, Gasta Housing Complex. One of the most popular hubs of shopping called Jwala Heri is in Paschim Vihar. Jawala Heri, an old village converted to a shopping den. Lot of illegal construction was done in this market with support from local politicians that flouted all the norms of safety and traffic flow. Paschim Vihar is a part of one of the biggest and most populous constituencies in India's Parliament Lok Sabha; Outer Delhi. There many other strip malls in and around Paschim Vihar.

The under-construction second phase of Delhi Metro includes Paschim Vihar on the Mundka-Kirti Nagar-Indralok stretch, with the country's first standard gauge railway line passing on the northern pheriphery, Rohtak Road. The entire line is expected to be operational by 2010, and will have two railway stations for Paschim Vihar residents, Paschim Vihar East and Paschim Vihar West.

Paschim Vihar, just like the entire India, has people from all religious faiths and beliefs who live in absolute harmony and peace. For these multi-religious society, there are plenty of temples and gurudwaras. Some of the temples that are in and around Paschim Vihar are listed below.
*Prachin Shiva Mandir – Behind the Jwala Heri Market in Block B-3, this is perhaps one of the older temples in PV. The priest of this temple hails from Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. He is responsible for daily proceedings of the temple. Amongst several things, he arranges for several religious discourses (Pravachans) & religious activities throughout the year.
*Lakshmi Narayan Mandir - On the main road that dissects Paschim Vihar in the middle. Known for arranging a huge public festival around Janam Asthmi (Lord Krishna's birthday) this temple attracts a huge population of devotees the entire year. Housing the "Shri Shani Dev Mandir" on one side for prayers and offerings, this has the distinction of being the temple not only in PV but also in entire West Delhi to have an area dedicated to Lord Shani.
*Shiva Mandir - Near the two large water tanks, opposite the district park, this temple was built by the active participation and cooperation of the employees from Delhi Jal Board. The priest hails from Chitrakoot in Uttar Pradesh, a religiously famous place for Hindus. The place is frequented not only by the employees and their families of Delhi Jal Board but also by people from around the surrounding areas.

*Arya Samaj Mandir - Opposite of the Maharaja Agrasen Bhavan, on the road leading towards Rohtak road from Jwala Heri is situated the Arya Samaj Mandir of Paschim Vihar. It is one of the most active Arya Samaj Mandir of Delhi. It is regularly frequented by learned Vedic Acharyas who give pravachan on leading a good life with references to the vedas. Many times in the year, the Arya Samaj holds yoga session camps for the benefit of the public. Several Gurudwaras make the religious fabric of PV even stronger. Gurudwaras host many religious festivities following the Sikh traditions and culture. On Sundays especially, there are Langers, food for one and all, offered to anyone.

Maharaja Agrasen Bhavan is the social hub for hosting any and all kinds of ceremonies, social and religious alike.

There are many Public and Government Senior Secondary Schools. A few from the long list include, the St. Froebel Sr.Sec. School, Divine Happy, St. Sophia, St.Martins, Doon Public School, Vishal Bharti, Bhatnagar International, Sarasvati Shishu Vidya Mandir, Sarvodya Vidhalaya and Central School and several Government schools.

Nearby residential areas of Paschim Vihar include Punjabi Bagh, Madipur, Raghubir Nagar, Raja Garden, Vishal Enclave, Tilak Nagar, Vikaspuri, Janak Puri, Keshopur, Meera Bagh, Sunder Vihar, Peera Garhi, Nangloi and Rohini. The postal code of Paschim Vihar is 110063 and some parts of Paschim Vihar also come under the Sunder Vihar Post Office whose postal code is 110087.
