Antelope air defence system

The Antelope air defense system is a tactical ground-to-air anti-aircraft defense system used by the Republic of China (Taiwan) army. It employs a battery of four Tien Kung-I missiles mounted on atop a wheeled vehicle (such as a truck or humvee). cite web|url=http://www.fas.org/irp/world/taiwan/air-defense-over.htm|title=Air Defense Overview|accessdate=2007-04-16] The Antelope system- the name applies to an integrated package of a targeting and guidance system, as well as communications components and the anti-aircraft missiles themselves was developed starting in 1995 as an outgrowth of the development of the Tien Chien-I missile program. The precise operating range of the Antelope system is variously reported as 9 km cite web|url=http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htada/articles/20010828.aspx|title=Air Defense: August 28, 2001|accessdate=2007-04-16] , 18 km, and "4 miles"cite web|url=http://www.emeraldesigns.com/matchup/antiair.htm|title=Equipment Matchups: Air Defense|accessdate=2007-04-16] . The Antelope system employs infrared guidance, and is similar in design to the United States-made Chaparral system.
