Priya Dutt

Priya Dutt Roncon (28 August 1966 - ) has been the LokSabha MP (Lok Sabha Member of Parliament) for Mumbai North West since 22 November 2005 as a member of the Indian National Congress. She is the daughter of the late actor and politician, Sunil Dutt and actress Nargis. She is also the sister of Sanjay Dutt and Namrata Dutt, with whom she published a memoir of her parents, titled, "Mr. and Mrs. Dutt: Memories of our Parents" in 2007 .Priya's progress in the political arena has been steady and solid. She has worked with the people of her constituency and has gained their confidence as a hard working politician. The Congress Party has been quick to recognize her as a potential and recently appointed her as AICC Office bearer (Secretary).Her mantra has been one of empowerment and has aggressively encouraged ALMs and local community representations dealing with better governance. Priya's passion, much like her fathers lies with working with the under privileged and spends a substantial amount of time in doing so.

In recent times, Priya Dutt hit the news headlines with her strong and effective support to the people of Pereria Wadi when their homes were destroyed in an inhumane manner by re-developers. Her stand was one of humanity, and stood firmly for the injustice done to these people.Priya also led a team of volunteers under her Charity, The Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable trust, to the aid of the flood victims in the state of Bihar. She took with her truck loads of aid in the form of kitchen utensils and distributed the same to the worst affected in the area. She has further plans to initiate medical, especially pediatric care in these epidemic prone areas.

Background

She is married to Owen Roncon, partner in Oranjuice Entertainment a music promotion company and Fountainhead Promotions & Events Pvt Ltd, an Experiential and Below the line Marketing Firm.
