"It Just Gets Worse" is the title of an Anal Cunt album, released in 1999 on Earache Records as MOSH 195 CD. It contains a total of 39 tracks and was very controversial.

The song "Into the Oven" ranked #12 on Blender Magazine's " [http://www.blender.com/guide/articles.aspx?ID=2133 MOST GRUESOME LYRICS … EVER!] " list.

Recording Info

The album was recorded between August 1998 and August 1999, although the majority of it was recorded after the band's 1998 tour in Japan. The guitar and drums were recorded on a 4-track at Anal Cunt's practice space and the vocals were recorded on a PA in the studio, where vocalist Seth Putnam mixed it, meaning it has the harshest sound of any of the band's full-length albums. It was then released after their 1999 European tour with the band Flächenbrand and was the last of the band's albums released under the Earache label.

Controversy

The album was understandably the subject of much controversy, receiving universally negative reviews and heavy criticism from much of the music press. It was intentionally created to be incredibly offensive and contains blatant vulgarity, in the form of misogyny, racism, sexism, anti-Semitism and general tastelessness.

The lyrics of the album discuss topics that are generally considered taboo in music. Topics include rape, domestic violence (against women), child sexual abuse and the Holocaust.

The record label had reservations before the album's release and were concerned about the reaction that the content of some of the songs might provoke. This caused them to change some of the song titles. One such song was "Your Kid Committed Suicide Because You Suck", which was changed from the original title of "Connor Clapton Committed Suicide Because His Father Sucks". Even though it is likely Eric Clapton has never heard of Anal Cunt, Earache Records were afraid they might get sued if they kept the original title, obviously overlooking the fact that the lyrics still contain the lines,

Eric Clapton sucks
Eric Clapton sucks
Eric Clapton's gay
And he's fucking gay

In the song "Easy E Got AIDS From F. Mercury", Freddie Mercury was shortened in the title for similar reasons even though Mercury died in 1991.

Earache Records also censored the lyrics to some of the songs on the album, namely "Women: Nature's Punching Bag" and "Body By Auschwitz". The latter song was censored because the lyrics made fun of Earache's owner, Digby Pearson.

Rumours that Earache Records were sued as a result of this album are untrue.

Some of the songs were written for a particular reason, other than merely to provoke offence. The song "Beating Up Hippies For Their Drugs At A Phish Concert" from the Thrash of the Titans compilation LP was also originally recorded for this album under the name "Stealing Drugs From Hippies At A Phish Show", but wasn't on the final cut.

I Became A Counselor So I Could Tell Rape Victims They Asked For It

This song was written following the band's performance at a straight edge vegan festival in Syracuse, New York. The band had played the song "Women: Nature's Punching Bag" and had received complaints from women in the audience, which inspired them to write an even worse misogynistic song. Extreme Noise Terror Are Afraid Of Us

In 1997, Anal Cunt were supposed to go on tour in Europe with the bands Extreme Noise Terror and Iron Monkey, but Extreme Noise Terror had them kicked off the tour when they found out they would be playing, although it is unknown whether this was for personal reasons as Extreme Noise Terror have strong liberal political and social views while Anal Cunt often make fun of liberals and people liberals usually defend or as a result of violence and controversy Anal Cunt had shown at previous concerts, such as those depicted on the EP "Breaking The Law". This song was written as a reprisal.

=Chris Barnes is a Pussy=

This song is basically an open invitation for ex-Cannibal Corpse and Six Feet Under member Chris Barnes to fight vocalist Seth Putnam. The episode started in 1996 when Putnam attended a Six Feet Under show with guitarist Josh Martin, as Anal Cunt were looking for a new drummer and decided to hand out flyers there. Putnam and Martin heckled the band throughout the show and when they got off stage, Barnes attempted to attack Putnam. When Putnam actually challenged Barnes to a fight, however, Barnes' roadies tackled and pummeled Putnam. The rivalry between them has continued since, resulting in this song. Barnes has yet to respond to this song.
