History

In 1963, at a cost of $412,000, Forest Grove Community Hospital opens to the public. [http://www.tuality.org/workfiles/AboutUs/history.pdf Tuality Healthcare history highlights.] Tuality Healthcare. Retrieved on March 24 2008.] Next in 1967, the founders sell the hospital to a local business group. Then in 1976 it is sold again, this time to American Medical International and the hospital is remodeled and updated. Two years later a new delivery area is opened that allows for the entire labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum process to occur in a single room.

Next, in 1982 a medical office building is built on the campus and the hospital is purchased by Tuality Community Hospital in neighboring Hillsboro, Oregon. With this purchase, the ownership group creates Fontus in 1983 as a healthcare organization. Then in 1990, the hospital is re-named Tuality Forest Grove Hospital. In 1995 a geriatric psychiatric unit is added to the facility, and in 1999 a dialysis unit is added. The maternity unit was discontinued in 1996 as part of a re-organization of the parent company.
