Central Railroad Company of Indianapolis reporting mark|CERA is a Class III short-line railroad that operates approximately 33 miles of rail line in north central Indiana.
One leg of the railroad heads northwest from the city of Marion, passes through the Grant County communities of Sweetser and Mier, then crosses into Miami County at Converse and terminates at Amboy. The other leg, which also begins in Marion, passes west-southwest through Herbst, Swayzee and Sims, then through the Howard County communities of Sycamore, Greentown, and finally Kokomo, where it intersects a Norfolk Southern line. This track is now out of service in the city of Kokomo, with vegetation more than 6 feet high. It was formerly used to transport gasoline from the Gas Tower in the center of Kokomo to Indianapolis. When the Gas Tower was torn down, there was no more use for the line. In the city of Indianapolis, the track is used between the state fairgrounds and the suburb of Fishers, Indiana, for about two weeks out of the entire year to transport people to and from the fair. It is dormant the rest of the year.
Central Railroad of Indianapolis is a subsidiary of RailAmerica.
