Paddy O'Brien is a retired inter-county Irish Gaelic footballer for County Meath in Ireland. He enjoyed much success playing inter-county football in the forty's and fifty's on the Meath team. For Meath he played in the Full Back position. He played club football first for Skryne and later for the Sean McDermotts club in Dublin. He won his first Leinster medal in 1947. He was on the Meath team which won the counties first All Ireland in 1949. While he was playing for Meath the county reached 4 All Ireland finals between 1949 and 1954, winning their second All Ireland in 1954. In 1984 the GAA selected their football "Team of the century" to celebrate the first 100 years of the GAA. Paddy was selected for the Full Back position. Paddy was one of a number of O'Briens playing for both Meath and Skryne at the time.
