List of stadiums by capacity

The following is a list of sports stadiums ordered by their capacity, that is the maximum number of spectators that the stadium can accommodate.

Most of the largest stadiums are used for Association football, American football or Cricket. However some high capacity venues are used for baseball, rugby union, rugby league, Australian rules football, Canadian football, and Gaelic games. Many large soccer stadiums have a running track allowing them to be used for athletics.

All stadiums with a capacity of 40,000 or more are included.
