"Truth and Soul" is the second album by alternative rock band Fishbone, released on September 13, 1988. In 1999, it was named by "Spin" magazine as one of the most influential alternative rock albums of all time.Fact|date=March 2008 It features a wide array of genres, including reggae, soul, funk, ska, folk, R&B, blues, and heavy metal. The album begins with a hard rock version of Curtis Mayfield's "Super Fly" classic "Freddie's Dead".

The title is derived from the ad agency in Robert Downey Sr.'s film "Putney Swope".Fact|date=March 2008
