"Priscilla: Queen of the Desert the Musical" written by Australian film director/writer Stephan Elliott and British screenwriter Allan Scott, is a stage adaptation of the 1994 motion picture "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert".

The new musical, directed by Melbourne Theatre Company artistic director Simon Phillips, stars Tony Sheldon, Todd McKenney and Daniel Scott and features Bill Hunter.

"Priscilla Queen of the Desert: The Musical" premiered on October 7, 2006 at the Lyric Theatre, Star City Casino, Sydney, Australia. The show finished its performances at Sydney on September 2, 2007. The show then moved on to Melbourne, Australia, where it ended its run on April 27, 2008. The show opened at the Civic Theatre Auckland, New Zealand on May 27, 2008. The show will begin a twelve week return season in Sydney on October 7, 2008 for the second anniversary of the show's premiere.

Other productions

Melbourne 2008
The Sydney show was transferred to the Regent Theatre, Melbourne, beginning previews on September 28, 2007 before opening on October 6, 2007. The show closed on April 27, 2008 to make way for the Australian premiere of "Wicked".

Auckland 2008
The Australian show was then transferred to Auckland, New Zealand for a limited run, opening on May 27, 2008. It closed on July 6, 2008.

London 2009
A West End Production has been confirmed for March 2009, It will be co-produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Group. Both Back-Row and Really Useful Music group are confident that the show will enjoy a long stay in the West End. Toronto 2009
A Toronto production has been confirmed for late 2009. At this stage it will be a new cast.

Sweden 2010
A Sweden production has been confirmed to open in early 2010. It is believed the show will be translated.
