James Gillan (born James Gillan Paterson 30th August, 1974 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a Scottish stage actor born in Glasgow and trained at The Arts Educational Schools in London. He is most notable as Rusty the Steam Engine in "Starlight Express", the title role in the Royal Festival Hall's "Peter Pan" [ [http://web.playbill.com/news/article/77032.html Playbill News: James Gillan Chats About Role in U.K. Peter Pan ] ] (with Richard Wilson and Susannah York) and most recently, as "Boq" in the UK version of the musical "Wicked" [ [http://www.wickedthemusical.co.uk/creative/jamesgillan.php :: WICKED The Musical - Cast :: ] ] . He starred as part of the original West End cast alongside Tony-award winning Idina Menzel and Helen Dallimore. He left "Wicked" on 7 June 2008.

From 22 November 2008 to 31 January 2009, James will be returning to the role of Peter Pan in the musical adaption by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe.

He was nominated for a 1997 Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Best Supporting Performance in a Musical of 1996 for his role in Tommy.

In 2008 he recorded a song for the CD "Act One - Songs From The Musicals Of Alexander S. Bermange", an album of 20 brand new recordings by 26 West End stars, released in October 2008 on Dress Circle Records.
