Lila Quartermaine (born Morgan; formerly Tolliver) is a fictional character on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital". She was portrayed by Anna Lee from 1978 until Lee's death on May 14 2004. In 1994, Lila was temporarily recast with actress Meg Wyllie. The character was written out of the show in July 2004, said to have died peacefully in her sleep.

Character biography

The saintly wife of wicked billionaire Edward Quartermaine and mother to warring siblings Alan and Tracy, clever Lila sees but overlooks the shortcomings of her family, dispensing advice and intervening in conflicts when necessary. Over the years, she is beloved by all of Port Charles; even grandson Jason Quartermaine, struck with permanent amnesia after a car crash and wanting to distance himself from the family, takes the name "Jason Morgan" as a tribute to her.
