Greenwood Dale School is a mixed comprehensive school in Sneinton, Nottingham, England. It places an emphasis on technology, and is attended by around 1,100 pupils aged 11-18. Greenwood Dale is a Foundation School, and a specialist technology college. It isdesignated as a Leading Edge school and a National Support School. The school is intended to become a city academy. Academic standards

Ofsted inspected the school in September 2007 and awarded a rating of "Outstanding", the highest available, commenting "Greenwood Dale is an outstanding school. It serves a community facing significant challengesand turns out young people who achieve highly and develop into well rounded, ambitious young people, equipped in all respects for a modern, diverse society. Fifteen years ago, going through the school was described by the current Chair of governors, then a new parent, as 'like walking through a war zone'. Since then the school has been transformed, in its appearance as well as its effectiveness." The school was rated the sixth best in 2006, in the UK, for improving pupils. Barry Day

Barry Day, headteacher, was awarded the OBE in the 2007 Queen's Birthday Honours List. Greenwood Dale won the "State School of the Year" award at the "The School Sport Matters Awards 2006". The citation said "Greenwood Dale School, in one of the toughest communities in the country, in Nottingham, is a hotbed for sport in spite of having no grass pitches and limited facilities ...
