Newcastle, County Dublin

Newcastle ("An Caisleán Nua") is a small town in a mainly rural part of South County Dublin, centred on the junction of the R120 and the R405 regional roads. It lies just west of Casement Aerodrome (Baldonnell) the HQ of the Irish Air Force.

"Peamount Hospital" is km to mi | 2 | abbr=yes | precision=1 north of the town centre on the R120.

The former residential tower (see thumbnail right) which now forms part of the local Church of Ireland was built in the late 1300s.

The 2002 census registered a population of 1,160 for the town but it has been growing rapidly since, with the population reaching 1,506 in 2006 (2006 Census).

Newcastle is home to St. Finians GAA club which has enjoyed much success, including an U-15 team which won both the league and the championship in the same season.
