"Greatest Hits Vol. II" is the third English greatest hits album released by American singer Gloria Estefan, but is the fourth compilation and twenty-third album overall, released in 2001.

Album History

"Greatest Hits Vol. II" is the follow-up to Estefan's first hits album (the second compilation was released only in Europe). The album includes all her English hits from 1994's "Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me" to the then-recent "Gloria!" (1998).

The other English singles "It's Too Late", "Cherchez La Femme", "Higher", "Cuba Libre", and "Don't Let This Moment End" were not included on the album, in contrary to the initial announcement that "Don't Let This Moment End" would make it to the album. According to a fan's review of the album on Amazon, in a behind-the-scenes interview discussing the album Estefan had said that since the number of songs on her albums were limited (due to statutory rates) and she decided to let her son Nayib remix "Conga" (hence the song "Y-Tu-Conga"), she had to drop "Moment" from the track listing.

"If We Were Lovers" is the English version of Estefan's hit Spanish single, "Con Los Años Que Me Quedan", released from her first Spanish album "Mi Tierra". The English version's first appearance was on this album.

The compilation has four new songs, three of which became singles: "You Can't Walk Away from Love" which featured on the Movie "Original Sin" starring Antonio Banderas and Angelina Jolie; "Out of Nowhere, a heavy dance tune released as a single and "Y-Tu-Conga, a remix of Estefan's popular single "Conga. "I Got No Love" which is probably Estefan's only R&B song, remained unreleased.

Even when this compilation includes Gloria's most famous and popular singles from her 90's career, the album was a failure in comparison with her 1992 "Gloria Estefan Greatest Hits", charting only at #92 on the Billboard Top 200.
