U.S. state ofMichigan . As of the 2000 census, the population was 436,141, with the2007 Census Bureau estimate showing the population to have slightly fallen to 434,715. Thecounty seat and population center is FlintGR|6. It is the state's fifth most populous county in terms of population.History
It was created on March 28, 1835 and fully organized on April 4, 1836. It was named after
Genesee County, New York by settlers fromNew York . Many local place names in the county are also from New York andPennsylvania , reflecting the pattern of settlement. A major attraction for visitors is Crossroads Village, a living history village north of Flint. Genesee County has the largest public park system in the State of Michigan.The Genesee County Health Department is nationally recognized for its innovative approaches to improving the public's health.
