Dilsukhnagar has grown into a well-known commercial and residential suburb of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. It has become one of the many major centers of Hyderabad with one of the highest density and development. Much of its growth has taken place in the last 5–10 years due to continuous immigration of people from other parts of the state of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier it was a purely a residential locality. The suburb has gained importance since it lies on the National highway 9 and its close proximity to Malakpet. The suburb starts from TV tower and extends till Kothapet. Moosrambagh, L.B. Nagar, Karmanghat, Saroor nagar, and Vidhyutnagar are its boundaries. Though officially Dilsukhnagar ends after SriChaitanya college, the areas Chaitanyapuri, Alkapuri, Telephone colony are a part of modern Dilsukhnagar making Dilsukhnagar itself a mini city.

Dilsukhnagar is the major suburb of Malakpet Constituency, which is second biggest in Andhra Pradesh after Khairtabad. Till 2006 the area from Moosarambagh till Dilsukhnagar Bus depot was part of Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad and the area starting from bus depot till LB Nagar was shared by Gaddiannaram,Saroor Nagar and Uppal municipalities. Now its all a part of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

Commercial area

Dilsukhnagar also known as DSNR for short, is one of the rapidly growing commercial and residential areas in Hyderabad. DSNR is an education hub and one can always find roads very busy with students in groups crossing the streets. Reputed educational institutions viz., Aurobindo Junior College,Sri Chaitanya, Narayana,Guntur Vikas, Vizag Vikas and Degree colleges like Spoorthy Degree College,Pragathi Degree College,Sri Sai Degree College,Ideal Degree College,Noble & New Degree College,Aurobindo Degree College and many more have been established in DSNR. It is as well a hub for training institutions. Besides this, the suburb is also well known for shopping malls and business centers and is majorly a middle class suburb. People from neighbouring localities travel daily to DSNR for education, entertainment and shopping. Dilsukhnagar is now center for commercial activities for the people from surrounding districts like Nalgonda and Rangareddy. Dilsukhnagar has a multitude of shops throughout the NH-9 stretch with numerous chat bandars, fast food centers, medicines shop, bakeries, hotels, tea stalls, juice centers and restaurants.

Transport

Dilsuknagar has second biggest bus depot in Hyderabad after M.G.Bus Station owned by APSRTC, therefore making it well connected to all parts of the city. It is well connected to Koti, which is a well-known city centre. Due to its high density, the area is frequented by traffic congestion. All the long distance travel buses headed for Vijayawada go via this suburb, thus adding to the congestion at the Bus depot.The closest MMTS Train station is at Malakpet. Dilsukhnagar is included in the planned Metro Rail project.

Sai baba temple here is one of the famous temples here. The temple which is well known to Hyderabad people had a terrorist bombing at this place.

  • Narasimhaswamy Temple - The ancient temple is located in Chaitanyapuri, on high-rocks, on the banks of the river Musi. The temple is famous as Konda Gudi in Chaitanyapuri areas.

Gaddiannaram Fruit Market is the state's main fruit market. This fruit market is considered to be the Asia's largest. Every day, hundreds of lorries, mini-trucks come with loads of fruits from every corner of the state.

Padmavamshi Handloom and Textiles Market is located in Kothapet area near HUDA Complex. The complex in 4 floors consists of hundreds of outlets offering the handlooms and textiles at competitive prices.

Main suburbs connecting into Dilsukhnagar are Bhavani Nagar, Gaddiannaram X roads, Maruthi Nagar, P & T Colony, New Maruthi Nagar, Chaitanyapuri, Kothapet etc. In the recent years especially New Maruthi Nagar, Kothapet have changed the Real Estate Market scenario. Besides, the Govt. of the State announced Metro Rail Project from Hitech City to LB Nagar, and the vicinity of Rail Stations are very near to Chaitanyapuri, hence the real estate growth in these places seems tremendous. As per the survey conducted by A.P. State Housing Board, held in the month of January 2009, the colonies of in and around Chaitanyapuri will be in great demand in the next coming years. There are some upmarket colonies like SBI colony, SBH colony, Revenue Board Colony, AB colony etc. s
