Essex bus route 804

Essex bus route 804 is a contracted bus route in Essex on the outskirts of London, United Kingdom. Route 804 operates school journeys but operates between Debden and Loughton during the day. The route has been around for at least 20 years previously operating under the number of 204. The number was changed to 804 a couple of years ago. Blue Triangle buses are now run by the Go-Ahead group and have stopped running older bus types such as Leyland Titans and MCW Metrobuses and are using Plaxton Presidents, some of which are leased from London Central

History

The route began in the 1990s as route 204 with Blue Triangle of Rainham. It has been with Blue Triangle ever since. The route number changed from 204 to 804 quite recently as Essex County Council changed some of the school routes to have number '8' at the beginning to avoid confusion with other normal routes . The route is operated with a mostly Plaxton Presidents, some of which are leased from London Central, also part of the Go-Ahead group.

Drivers

Being a bus route that only runs two vehicles a day, the 804 only has three allocated drivers. One full time driver drives the DEBDEN STATION/BUCKHURST HILL "Monkhams Inn" route and two part time drivers operate the DEBDEN STATION/CHIGWELL "West Hatch High School" route. The main 804 driver, who operates the DEBDEN STATION/CHIGWELL "West Hatch High School" route is Mehmet, who works Monday - Wednesday. Mehmet is extremely popular amongst West Hatch pupils who use the bus, due to his kindness of often delaying the bus by waiting at Loughton Station for other pupils who maybe late for whatever reason. The other known driver of the 804, Nick has recently left Blue Triangle/Go-Ahead after moving to Norfolk and finding the journey down to Rainham every Thursday and Friday morning too difficult.
