Character's background

When Mondo(short for Raymond) first arrived in Carrigstown, he was a rebellious teenager and was somewhat angry with the world. His mother

Angela had sent him to his father Ray, as she was infuriated by his rebellious actions. Ray tried to encourage Mondo to concentrate harder at school, but he found himself being mocked by the other students and became consumed with anger. Mondo tricked his parents into believing that his teacher Barry O'Hanlon had assaulted him. When the parents pressed charges against Barry, Mondo's conscience got the better of him and he admitted the truth. The parents forgave him and Mondo reconciled with them.

Mondo apologized to Barry and went back to school where he met Kira Cassidy. He began a relationship with her and they soon took it to the next level. A few weeks later, a horrified Kira realised that she was pregnant. Mondo left school and got a job as Seamus McAleer's assistant. Kira gave birth to a baby girl named Juliet. Mondo convinced her to move into his flat, but she eventually decided to leave Carrigstown and live with her aunt in England. Devastated that he had lost his daughter, Mondo spent nights binge drinking with his friend Slim.

When Slim introduced Mondo to Kylie Kavanagh, he found himself on the wrong side of the law when her father Dominic framed him.

One night when Dominic's daughter Kylie went out with Mondo, Dominic beat her up for coming home late. When he framed Mondo for the assault, Dominic forced Kylie to tell the Gardaí that Mondo raped her. Mondo was arrested, but he was later released and Kylie found herself trapped in Dominic's house. Mondo went over to the house and confronted Dominic. As Dominic prepared to attack Mondo, Kylie warned her father that the Gardaí were coming. A furious Dominic tried to stop Kylie and Mondo running away, but the two teenagers managed to escape. Kylie dropped the charges and moved into a flat.

When Mondo was on McAleer's payroll, he met his daughter Lauren. Mondo began a relationship with her.

McAleer disapproved of the relationship and told Mondo that he would sack him unless he stopped dating his daughter. Mondo reluctantly agreed and broke up with Lauren, leaving her heartbroken. When Mondo was at one of McAleer's business meetings, he met Lauren's friends and was forced to flee the country when he unwittingly witnessed a murder, as a hitman had been ordered to kill him. Mondo came by this information when Mick O'Shea told him. Realising that Lauren was worried about Mondo, McAleer helped him get to the airport just in time.

Mondo rekindled his relationship with Kira in England and became a father figure in Juliet's life once again.

When Ray was diagnoised with prostate cancer, Mondo sensed that his father was acting strangely and returned to Carrigstown to find out what was going on. Christy Phelan told Mondo the terrible truth, but it soon became apparent that Ray hadn't had prostate cancer at all and the test results had been mixed up with James Pigott's. The O'Connells celebrated in McCoys and MonDo returned to England the following weekday. Before he left, McAleer told Mondo that he was wrong about him and wished him good luck.
