Kungsgatan, Stockholm

Kungsgatan (Swedish: "King's Street") is the name of a street in central Stockholm.

In its western end it is connected to Kungsholmen by the bridge Kungsbron, from where it stretches east to the public square Stureplan. It is intercepted by Vasagatan, Drottninggatan, and Sveavägen. Two streets stretches over the street: Malmskillnadsgatan passing over Malmskillnadsbron and Regeringsgatan passing over the Bridge of Regeringsgatan.

Kungsgatan passes by the public square Hötorget where is the Stockholm Concert Hall. It is also flanked by the two about 60 metres tall buildings.

Kungsgatan was dug through the esker Brunkebergsåsen in the early 20th century and inaugurated in 1911. Today it is a lively shopping street flanked by cinemas, cafés, and others shopping facilities.
