November 3 1971 inBoston, Massachusetts ) is an Americansoccer goalkeeper who last played for theKansas City Wizards ofMajor League Soccer .Oshoniyi played
college soccer atSouthern Connecticut State University , where he helped lead the team to Division II championships in 1990 and 1992. He finished his career at the school with a record of 67 wins, 8 losses, and 7 ties.After graduating, Oshoniyi joined the
New York Centaurs of theUSL First Division in 1995. Upon the creation of MLS, Oshoniyi was selected in the fifth round of the1996 MLS Inaugural Player Draft by theColumbus Crew . He started 13 games with the Crew, but was beaten out for the job byBrad Friedel , who was acquired in mid-season. Oshoniyi was released by the Crew after 1996 and played the next year with theConnecticut Wolves of the First Division. He moved to theCharleston Battery in 1998, and theAtlanta Silverbacks in 1999.Oshoniyi returned to MLS in 2000, when he was selected 39th overall in the MLS SuperDraft by the
New England Revolution . He played no games for New England, however, but played one game with theKansas City Wizards , and was part of theirMLS Cup -winning squad, with which he would remain until the end of the 2006 season. Until 2005, he was the backup keep forTony Meola , but started getting more games as Meola went down with injury.
