Lacrosse glove

Lacrosse glove

A lacrosse glove is one of the two protective gloves worn by men's lacrosse players. Women's lacrosse does not require gloves, but some players use them for grip as they do not wear fully padded men's lacrosse gloves. All men's gloves are generally the same, usually with thick padding on the back and wrist and a palm made of synthetic and mesh material, while goaltender's gloves have extra padding for the thumb to protect against injury if a shot hits the thumb. The gloves are designed to protect players' hands from checks, as checking the hands and stick are a big part of defense. Many players cut out the synthetic material of the palm of the glove to provide better feel and control of their stick although this practice has become illegal in almost all competitive leagues. Notable examples of leagues where it is still legal to cut out the palms is in post-collegiate club lacrosse, Major League Lacrosse and international play.
