Cracking of the World

Cracking of the World

The Cracking of the World was a fictional event in David Eddings' The Belgariad and The Mallorean.

The Cracking of the World was an event that happened around five thousand years ago. It was caused when the God Torak used the Orb of Aldur to defend himself against the other Gods and their armies after he lost in the War of the Gods.

When he did this the combined power cracked the world, let in the sea (thus creating the sea of the east) and caused worldwide destruction and chaos. It also caused the destruction or significant alteration of many places including Korim (The Turim Reef).

The Orb then horribly disfigured the beautiful God Torak for his misuse of its power.
