Hendrik G. Stoker

Hendrik Gerhardhus Stoker (1899 – 1993), born in Johannesburg, South Africa, was a Calvinist philosopher who taught at Potchefstroom (PU). He studied at PU and the University of Cologne, and he completed his doctoral dissertation on "Nature and the forms of conscience" under Max Scheler. [http://www.redeemer.on.ca/~tplant/m/REFCCR.HTM]

Stoker taught at PU from 1925 to 1970. He was imprisoned during 1942 to 1943 for his anti-England stance and his pro-Afrikaans and pro-German sympathies.
