History
Cox Green School was founded in 1967, and in 1973 was part of a reorganisation of education in Maidenhead. The two single sex grammar schools, Desborough (boys) and Newlands (girls), Furze Platt School to the north of the town, Altwood C of E School and Cox Green School all became 11-18 comprehensives. Together with Holyport Manor Special School, they now form the Maidenhead Federation. This means they work collaboratively and share resources to improve the education available in the town. This includes a shared sixth form option block. Sixth Form representatives, represent the student body with the role of Head Boy and Girl incorporated. Other sixth form representatives include house captains of the schools three houses, Astor, Brunel, and Spencer.The house colours are blue, red and yellow. Previously the school houses were known as Windsor, Stuart and Tudor.
Facts
The school currently holds Sportsmark and Artsmark Silver. It is a Performing Arts College and Media Specialist School. At present, the school has about 913 pupils on role.
Location
Cox Green is a parish in its own right to the south-west of Maidenhead. There are several business parks within a five-mile radius but otherwise the area is residential. Pupils come from the two primary schools in Cox Green,called Lowbrook school and Wessex school very near Cox Green School.It is also popular from the neighbouring area of Woodlands Park from various villages round about and in increasing numbers from primary schools in Maidenhead itself and Buckinghamshire.
