The Royal Ceremonies on the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Accession to the Throne

His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej has graciously granted the Royal Permission on the Royal Programme of the Royal Ceremonies on the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Accession to the Throne of Thailand, setting dates from Thursday 8-Tuesday 13 June 2006, for the following events:

Thursday 8 June 2006

The Meritorious Royal Ceremony on the Merit Offering to the Royal Ancestor, "The Merit Making Royal Ceremony" in brief, or" Thai" พระราชพิธีบำเพ็ญพระราชกุศลทักษิณานุประทาน (Phra ratchaphithi bamphen phra ratchakuson thaksinanuprathan), 17:00 hours, at Amarin Winitchai Mahaisun Phiman Throne Hall within the Grand Palace.

Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit arrived by the royal car from Chitralada Palace of Dusit Palace to the Grand Palace through Wiset Chaisi Gate, the royal car stopped at Thewet Raksa Gate.

17:00 hours, Their Majesties walked to Amarin Winitchai Mahaisun Phiman Throne Hall, lighted candles in front of the worship items, paid homages to the Buddha Images in front of the Butsabok Mala Mahaphiman Throne, lighted the royal candles and paid obeisance to the royal cinerary urns beneath the White Umbrella surrounding by Silver and Gold Floras with the Royal Regalia.

His Majesty presented the Commemorative Fans to 26 senior monks, and 25 monks have then chanted the Buddhist verse.

Their Majesties lit candles and joss sticks of the royal merit-making items, the monks granted a sermon, Their Majesties presented the monks the four ecclesiastic essential requirements ("Thai" จตุปัจจัย, chatupatchai; "Pali" catupaccaya), laid offering robs to the monks, listened to the sermon, poured the royal water. The monks chanted blessing to Their Majesties, and departed.

Their Majesties departed by the royal car at Thewet Raksa Gate to Chitralada Palace.

The Merit-making Ceremony in dedication to the past monarchs and holding the great audience, or "Thai" พระราชพิธีบวงสรวงสมเด็จพระบูรพมหากษัตริยาธิราชและเสด็จออกมหาสมาคม (Phra ratchaphithi buangsuang somdet phra burapha maha kasattriyathirat lae sadet ok maha samakhom),at Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, Dusit Palace.

The Merit-making Ceremony in dedication to the past monarchs

10:19 hours, Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit arrived by the royal car from Chitralada Palace of Dusit Palace to Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall, and took a walk to the royal pavilion.

Their Majesties lit candles in front of the worship items, paid homages to the Buddha Images, presented the commemorative fans to the 10 high ecclesiastic monks, rested on the throne, vowed adherence to the Buddhist sermon.

Their Majesties, with all the royal household, walked to Chumsai Royal Pavilion where the sacrificial items placed, then lighted the candles. Royal astrologer sounded the victorous gong, royal brahmin blew the conch, royal official rocked the small drum, other officials performed music.

Their Majesties rested on the throne in front of the royal pavilion, graciously granted the royal permission to Phra Ratchakhru Wamathepmuni, Leader of the Royal Brahmin, chanting sacrificial verse, all the audience put hands together in salutation. After that, royal astrologer sounded the victorous gong, royal brahmin blew the conch, royal official rocked the small drum, other officials performed music.

Their Majesties presented the monks the four ecclesiastic essential requirments ("th" จตุปัจจัย, chatupatchai; "pali" catupaccaya). The monks chanted blessing to Their Majesties, and took departure to receive the royal banquet at Suan Bua Pleo Palace within Wiman Mek Palace.

Their Majesties, with the royal household, took the royal procession to Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall.

The Royal Ceremony on Holding the Great Audience

11:00 hours, the Royal Household, Privy Councillors, Royal Secretary, Palace Secretary, Members of the royal linage have the audience with Their Majesties within the Throne Hall. After that, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn went out to stand on the podium in front of the Throne Hall.

His Majesty appeared at the window of the south balcony, the royal officials performed the metal drum and the Trump of Farang, the Three Forces of Military paid respect, the brass band performed Phleng Sansoen Phra Barami, artillery barrage for salutation was performed for 80 times, at the same time, the monks throughout the Kingdom were chanting the Blessing Verse, beating the gong, drum and bell, together with ritual performances of other religions.

At the end of Phleng Sansoen Phra Barami, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince opened the cone of Flower and Candle Royal Vessel, delivered the royal blessing on behalf of all the royal household, and then walked into the Throne Hall.

After that, Police Colonel Thaksin Shinawatra, Prime Minister Caretaker, opened the cone of Flower and Candle Vessel, delivered the blessing on behalf of all members of the Council of Ministers, Military and Civil Servants, and the Thai People.

Mister Suchon Chalikhruea, Chairman of the Parliament, opened the cone of Flower and Candle Vessel, delivered the blessing on behalf of all members of the Parliament.

Mister Chanchai Likhitchittha, President of the Supreme Court, opened the cone of Flower and Candle Vessel, delivered the blessing on behalf of all judiciary servants.

The Royal Reply of His Majesty the King

After that, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej addressed the royal reply speech as follows (unofficial translation):

cquote|It is with a feeling of great pleasure to be among the great audience in mass of all persons of the nation with the Thai People. I am grateful for the wishes and great special celebrations by everyone, and the government has arranged this activities orderly and beautifully.

Kindness and friendship which have been acted in unison by you all on this day braught me the immesity of delight, because each one has acted by and with cordialness and well intention. I thank you all.

I feel heartened by the unity and well intent with a feeling of hands in glove. I would like to remind all about some underlying principles to guide Thai citizens in joining together to preserve and develop their country to new heights of prosperity through the end.

First, everyone should show kindness and compassion to ensure the mental and physical well being of one another.

Second, people should strive to cooperate for the mutual benefit of oneself, others and the country.

Third, everyone should uphold honesty and observe rules and traditions with impartiality.

Fourth, everyone should adhere to righteous thinking and act reasonably.

If Thai citizens think and act in an agreeable and constructive manner, then the country will surely thrive.

May you all in this great audience and all the Thai people strictly keep this virtues in mind, and transfer this thought and mind through all of us with the endlessness, for maintain the national peace and order at this time through the future.

May the Three Sacred Gems and all the holiness in this universal world protect the Thai Nation and stave off all the harmfulness, yield happiness and prosperity to every inch of the Thai people. After the royal address, the royal officials performed the metal drum and the Trump of Farang, the Three Forces of Military paid respect, and the brass band performed Phleng Sansoen Phra Barami.

The crowded subjects in the royal plaza of Dusit Palace throughout Thanon Ratchadamnoen Nok reverberately sung Phleng Sansoen Phra Barami.

At the end of Phleng Sansoen Phra Barami, Police Colonel Thaksin Shinawatra, Prime Minister Caretaker, led the people blaring cheered "Long live Their Majesties" for 9 times.

In that whilst, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit appeared by His Majesty's side, waved theirs hands to the great crowd, made all the people fell in the profound delight and rejoicing.

Their Majesties appeared at the balcony for a moment, and backed into the Throne Hall, then the royal departure to Chitralada Palace.

The Royal Ceremony on the Celebration of 60th Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Accession to the Throne, or "Thai" พระราชพิธีฉลองสิริราชสมบัติครบ ๖๐ ปี (Phra ratchaphithi chalong siri ratchasombat khrop hok sip pi), 17:00 hours, at Amarin Winitchai Mahaisun Phiman Throne Hall within the Grand Palace.

Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit arrived by the royal car from Chitralada Palace of Dusit Palace to the Grand Palace through Wiset Chaisi Gate, the royal car stopped at Thewet Raksa Gate.

17:00 hours, Their Majesties walked to Amarin Winitchai Mahaisun Phiman Throne Hall. His Majesties has graciously appointed His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn to delegate on presence of the royal commissions and ecclesiastical fans bestowing 69 senior monks-at the same time-10 senior monks were chanting the blessing verse and took departure. The officials of Division of Religious Upholding, Department of Religious Affairs, invited 99 monks whom were to chant prayers sitting on the ecclesiastical seats.

Their Majesties departed by the royal car at Thewet Raksa Gate to Chitralada Palace.
