"Hate to Say I Told You So" is a song that was released on the The Hives' second album, "Veni Vidi Vicious", as the sixth track. It was released again as the opening track on the compilation "Your New Favourite Band". It is internationally known as the Hives' signature song. In March 2005, "Q" magazine placed it at number 54 in its list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks. The chord structure bears a strong similarity to The Kinks "All Day and All of the Night".

"Hate To Say I Told You So" has also been featured on "Music from and Inspired by Spider-Man".

Other versions

At a 2002 concert, the Foo Fighters performed a cover version of this for The Hives. The band even wore The Hives trademark black and white suits. The song was included in "Weird Al" Yankovic's polka medley "Angry White Boy Polka", from his album "Poodle Hat". Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine covered this on his 2002 album "Tuxicity". Both versions of the song were used as intro themes for the radio show Get This.
