Abertlllery railway station was a station which served Abertillery, in the Welsh county of Monmouthshire.

History

Opened by the Monmouthshire Railway it became part of the Great Western Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The line then passed on to the Western Region of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948. It was then closed by the British Transport Commission.

The site today

The trackbed is clear up to south of the former station site. however the A467 road has been built on the formation from there northward.

The future

Abertillery has been identified as a potential future phase development of the Ebbw Valley Line. A new station at Abertillery would be located at the British Gas site to the south of the former Co-op store. The extension of the railway line to Abertillery would involve relaying the line from Aberbeeg.
