The 1990 FIBA World Championship was an international basketball competition hosted by Argentina from August 8 to August 20, 1990. The competition final phase was held at the Luna Park, Buenos Aires.
Yugoslavia emerged as the tournament winner. After the final match, Yugoslavia's Vlade Divac took a Croatian flag from a fan, threw it on the ground and stamped on it. [ [http://www.javno.com/hr/sport/clanak.php?id=184536 After 19 Years] ] This was the last World Championship that the country participated in before it was split into Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and a rump state of FR Yugoslavia. Out of these, Croatia competed at the 1994 FIBA World Championship while FR Yugoslavia was banned due to UN sanctions relating to its involvement in the Yugoslav wars.
